KCTV: Study Led by Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute Finds Heart Disease in Mummies

After more than a decade’s long process of CT scans in ancient mummies, cardiologists from across the world have found heart disease to be found in humans over 4,000 years.

KCTV talked to Dr. Randall Thompson, lead author of the Global HORUS Study and nuclear cardiologist at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute, about the findings that suggest humans have an innate nature and tendency to atherosclerosis, or a build-up of plaque in the arteries that can lead to heart attack and stroke.
